THE 23rd NICK BARBIERI CHARITY

BOCCE BALL TOURNAMENT

23 years ago LiUNA Local 506 in partnership with the General Contractors’ Section began its’ Annual Nick Barbieri Charity Bocce Ball Tournament.

Each year the Committee selects a charity that has at one point affected our Members or their families. Charities such as Lupus Ontario; Thalassemia Foundation; Huntington Society; Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation; Palliative Care Unit of the Hospital for Sick Children in Memory of Joshua Drake; Second Harvest; Sunnybrook Hospital Burn Unit; Camp Oochigeas; mens sana; Big Brothers Big Sisters; Shining Through Centre, Bladder Cancer Canada; Toronto Azzuri Club and many more, in which over the years we have been able to raise well over two million dollars.

It is only through the assistance of our organizations and incredible people such as you, which not only are we able to hold the Bocce Ball Tournament but help out worthy causes.

We wish to extend our sincerest gratitude to all our Sponsors and volunteers year after year for their wonderful support and are pleased to announce that through their generous donations we have been able to raise over $90,000.00 in support of Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness at this year’s Nick Barbieri Charity Bocce Ball Tournament held on Friday, August 22nd, 2014.

This state of the art facility will provide truly integrated health care delivery and increase access to the services the community relies on most. With greater access to quality health care services, as well as resources and education, patients can learn to better manage their health. Osler is proud to be leading the way, with the help of partners like LiUNA Local 506, to help ensure quality health care for generations to come.

Although this event ran smoothly and appeared effortless it was far from easy. Its success is due to months of planning and preparation of many committed individuals. Volunteers cover areas including administration, logistics, set up and clean up. The Executive Board and General Contractors’ Section send to all those who contributed a heartfelt thanks. Your efforts certainly will reward many of our youths who will benefit from your efforts. It is through working with Community Groups, Charities, Employer Partners, Affiliates and Government that we have been able to make strides.
