LiUNA News

This year’s fundraising was remarkable. Through your substantial contributions and commitment, we successfully raised $113,085.00 which enabled us to generously donate $25,000.00 to each of our charities of choice.

Friday August 12th, LiUNA Local 506, in partnership with the General Contractors’ Section hosted the 25th Annual Nick Barbieri Charity Bocce Ball Tournament. We could not have done it without your help! It really turned out to be an enjoyable and exciting day. Our heartfelt congratulations to LiUNA Local 527 on their 4th win. We were overjoyed by their success. Cheers on adding another feather to your hat!

We extend a thank you to all who sponsored, donated and volunteered at the event this year. There was a real sense of community that would not have been possible without the support and generosity of our guests, participants, volunteers. Together, with your support, we brought the community together and raised funds for our two charities of choice this year, namely Thalassemia Foundation of Canada and Adaptive Canuck ALS Foundation.

Thalassemia Foundation of Canada provides necessary support for patients suffering from thalassemia in Canada and is completely dedicated to education and research. The funds collected by the Thalassemia Foundation of Canada make it possible for funding grants to be endowed for scientific research in the field of hemoglobinopathies and thalassemia. To be part of such a great cause is endearing to us here at Local 506.

Adaptive Canuck ALS Foundation was created with an unbreakable commitment towards supporting and advancing ALS adult stem cell research that leads to accelerated approval for human treatment to Canadian ALS patients. The money raised will help to fund the development of a unique cellular replacement treatment that restores health and motor function for Canadian patients with ALS, in order to prevent progression of disease and potentially offer a cure.

Our sincere appreciation for your support!
