0 Years of Justice, Honour and Strength!  2009 has been a challenging year for LIUNA Local 506.  Work hours have been down and although over ninety percent of our Members had steady work the other ten percent have felt the impact.

We have endured tougher times and we have prevailed.  Your Executive Board and Staff have been working hard behind the scenes to stimulate and promote work through organizing, lobbying all three levels of government to start spending money they have promised in infrastructure and through training our Members to be more employable.

This year has been very special for us as we have held several events commemorating our 90th Anniversary.  While this newsletter is dedicated to our 90 years of progress, you will read on the influence and respect we have achieved.  These qualities are extremely important as our forefathers have laid the foundation for success; we have the responsibility to carry on the fight and join together to build a better future for working families.
As a Union, we have a history that we are very proud of.

Our 90 years of success have been commemorated by several events during 2009.  On April 25th, we held our Annual Steward/Foreman Seminar.  We were honoured with the presence of our General President, Terence M. O’Sullivan; our General Secretary-Treasurer, Armand E. Sabitoni; our International Vice President, Joseph S. Mancinelli;  Members of all three levels of Government, including Mayor David Miller; the future Prime Minister of Canada, Honourable Michael Ignatieff; Community Leaders and our Employer Partners.  It was truly an honour to have these distinct individuals celebrating with us on our achievements and as you read on you will be proud of the relationships we have built.
